Matt Strahm allowed two hits over 5 1/3 innings and combined with four relievers on a 1-0 shutout of the Mariners on Thursday. Strahm was cruising today, striking out five and walking none, but he was still pulled after going through the Mariners lineup twice. It worked out great for the Phillies, as the bullpen allowed just one hit in 3 2/3 innings. Strahm is now 2-2 with a 2.31 ERA. If he keeps this up, he might stick in the rotation over Bailey Falter after Ranger Suárez returns.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Monday that J.D. Martinez (back) will not return from the injured list when first eligible this weekend. Roberts noted that the earliest Martinez may return would be their series against the Brewers in Milwaukee that begins on Monday. The 35-year-old slugger has been shelved since April 25 due to the back issue. Prior to landing on the injured list, he was hitting .250/.306/.534 with four homers and 15 RBI in 23 games.
