Phillies’ Pivetta logs five innings in loss to Blue Jays in last start
Nick Pivetta scattered four hits and two runs over five innings Sunday in the Phillies’ loss to the Blue Jays. Pivetta racked up seven strikeouts and two walks over 86 pitches. He allowed both of his runs on Devon Travis’ RBI double in the second inning. Pivetta committed his first throwing error of the year in the loss while also throwing a pair of wild pitches. Sunday’s defeat snapped his three-start winning streak. The right-hander will look to start a new streak when he takes the mound Friday in San Francisco.
Giants’ Stratton battles through five innings to earn win
Chris Stratton kept the Cubs to three runs through five innings, striking out six, in a win Saturday. It was another middle-of-the-road turn for the right-hander, who’s given up between three and five runs in each of his last five outings, but as he has in recent starts, he got the win despite the mediocre showing. He gave up four hits, including a pair of homers, and walked three in the contest. Stratton improved to 6-3 with a 4.97 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 11 starts overall, and fantasy players shouldn’t count on the wins to keep coming just because they have thus far. Stratton faces a tough Phillies club on Friday.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 6-0 in their last six games against the Giants but are just 3-9 in their last 12 games played at AT&T Park.
San Francisco
The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams in San Francisco and has cashed in 16 of the last 23 games between these two teams overall.
Prediction:
I love the Phillies in this spot. They’re 12-3 in Pivetta’s last 15 starts, are 4-1 in his last five road outings, and is 6-1 in his last seven starts versus a team with a losing record. The Giants, meanwhile, have scuffled recently. They’re 2-6 in their last eight games overall and are 1-4 in their last five games after scoring five runs or more in their previous game.
MLB Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies -115
