Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Khris Davis slugged a go-ahead solo homer off Chris Martin in the eighth inning as part of Friday’s 8-6 comeback victory over the Rangers. The Athletics rallied from five runs down to pull off the victory. Davis leads the majors with 10 homers and has five of them in his last three games. He just can’t be stopped right now.
Texas Rangers Fantasy Spin
Asdrubal Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk Friday against the Athletics. The homer was his fourth of the season and snapped an 0-for-13 hitless streak. Signed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract in January, Cabrera was solid out of the gate before struggling of late. Still, his recent consistency and multi-position eligibility are two big reasons to keep him on your fantasy roster.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are a perfect 5-0 in their last five games versus the Rangers in Arlington.
Texas
The Rangers have lost 22 times in their last 30 tries versus the A’s, but they are also 4-1 when Oakland starts Brett Anderson.
Prediction:
The Rangers are starting Shelby Miller, who hasn’t posted an ERA lower than 4.09 since 2015. On the other side of the pitching equation today is Brett Anderson, who owns a 6.06 ERA on the road. As the weather warms up in Texas, the ball usually flies out of the park. Davis has been taking everyone deep of late, but Marcus Semien, Matt Chapman and a handful of other Oakland bats are capable of slugging today as well. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams and is 5-1-1 in the last seven Athletics-Rangers matchups in Arlington. The over is also 5-1 in Anderson’s last six starts versus the Rangers and is 4-0 in his last four road outings against Texas. If you’re playing only one over today, this is your best bet.
The Pick: A’s/Rangers OVER 10.5
