Yankees’ Gray allows four runs in five innings to Nats

Sonny Gray let in four runs in five innings and was fortunate to escape with a no-decision against the Nationals on Wednesday. He gave up a run on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Rendon in the first inning, then locked things down until faltering in the fifth when rookie Juan Soto whacked a three-run bomb. Gray struck out just one batter against two walks and seven base hits in the sub-par outing. Things could have been worse if he hadn’t picked two runners off first base in the ballgame. Gray has a 4-4 record with a 4.98 ERA and 1.49 WHIP.

Nationals’ Fedde allows four runs in five innings vs. Yankees

Erick Fedde gave up four runs in five innings and did not factor into the decision against the Yankees on Wednesday. He struck out three, walked one and allowed six hits — including solo home runs by Greg Bird and Gleyber Torres. The youngster was making his second start of the season as he filled in for the injured Stephen Strasburg (shoulder). Fedde had a 4.76 ERA in 11 starts for Triple-A Syracuse this season.
