Joey Meneses clobbered a go-ahead three-run homer in the ninth inning on Sunday, propelling the Nationals to a 9-8 comeback win over the Diamondbacks. Meneses put on a show at Chase Field back in March during the World Baseball Classic and repeated the feat in this one, capping off a three-hit effort with a go-ahead three-run blast off righty Miguel Castro in the final frame. He also added a seventh-inning RBI single as well. The 31-year-old late-blooming slugger has shook off a frosty start at the dish and is batting .277/.301/.362 with 13 runs scored, two homers and 14 RBI across 146 plate appearances.

Bryce Johnson (concussion) went 1-for-3 on Sunday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Sacramento. Johnson was also caught stealing in this one. The 27-year-old speedster suffered a concussion last month when he crashed into the center-field wall to make a ridiculous leaping catch against the Dodgers. He should be ready to return in a reserve outfielder role sometime in the next week or so.
