Monday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – There is plenty of day baseball Monday with it being Memorial day, including in Oakland where the Athletics host the New York Yankees. Let’s look at all the odds around Major League Baseball.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have made the Athletics a -120 favorite in the contest and the Yankees are a +100 underdog on the moneyline. The over-under is set at 7.5 for the 4:10PM EST start.
Starting for Oakland is Trevor Cahill, who has a 6-2 record with a 2.02 earned-run average this season. New York will start Bartolo Colon and he comes in with a 2.3 record along with a 3.77 ERA. According to the latest trends, Colon is 6-5 with a 3.68 record on 16 career appearances (15 starts) versus the Athletics. Cahill is 0-2 with a 12.60 ERA in two starts against the Yankees.
The Yankees come in with a 28-23 record and are one game back in the AL East standings. Oakland is 27-27, but are in fourth in the AL West.
In other American League action, the Tampa Bay Rays host the Texas Rangers at 6:45PM EST. The Rays are -115 favorites and the over-under is 9. The Detroit Tigers are -147 favorites over the Minnesota Twins at 1:05PM EST, while the over-under sits at 8.5.
Over in the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies are at the Washington Nationals for a 1:05PM EST start. The Phillies, with Roy Halladay on the mound, are a -178 favorite and the over-under is 6.5. The Atlanta Braves entertain the San Diego Padres at 1:10PM EST. The Braves are -180 favorites with an over-under of 7.
At 8:15PM EST, the Los Angeles Dodgers are home to start a series with NL West rival Colorado. The Dodgers are a -115 favorite, while the over-under is 7.
