Saturday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The Boston Red Sox took the opener in its three-game set at the New York Yankees. What does game two have in store?
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Yankees -127 favorites in the matchup Saturday night with the Red Sox coming in as a +117 underdog. The over-under is set at 8.5 for the 7:15PM EST start.
Getting the nod for the Red Sox will be Josh Beckett, who is 2-1 with a 1.99 ERA on the season. New York counters with CC Sabathia, who has posted a 3-2 record and a 2.89 ERA on the year. According to the latest MLB trends, Beckett has an 11-7 record and a 5.90 ERA in 23 career starts versus the Yankees. Sabathia has a 6-6 record with a 3.35 ERA in 16 starts against the Red Sox.
Moving on in the American League, the Los Angeles Angels are slim -110 favorites in their 4:15PM EST start at the Texas Rangers. The over-under is 8. The MLB-best Cleveland Indians are a -134 favorite at home versus the Seattle Mariners at 1:10PM EST. The over-under is set at 8.
Over in the National League, the Atlanta Braves host the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:10PM EST. The Braves are -165 favorites and the over-under is 8. Cincinnati is a -125 favorite at 4:15PM EST against St. Louis with an over-under of 9.
