Friday’s MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – Another chapter in the rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees starts Friday night, one of 15 games on the MLB schedule.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Yankees -115 favorites in the matchup Friday night and the Red Sox are -105 underdogs. The over-under is set at 9.5 for the 7:05PM EST start.
Starting for the Red Sox will be Clay Buchholz, who comes in with a 3-3 and a 4.19 ERA. The Yankees will start Bartolo Colon, who has a 2-1 record and a 3.86 ERA. According to the latest MLB trends, Colon is 8-10 with a 4.13 ERA in 23 appearances (22 starts) in his career against the Red Sox. Buchholz has a 1-3 record and a 6.25 ERA in six starts versus the Yankees.
Elsewhere in the American League, Justin Verlander gets his first start for the Detroit Tigers since tossing his second career no-hitter. He will face the Kansas Royals at 7:05PM EST. The Tigers are -179 favorites and the over-under is 7.5.
The Tampa Bay Rays are home against the Baltimore Orioles at 7:05PM EST. Tampa Bay is a -146 favorite and the over-under is 7.5.
Over in the National League, the Chicago Cubs are a -108 favorite in their 2:20PM EST contest at home against the San Francisco Giants. The over-under has not yet been determined. The Cincinnati Reds host the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:10PM EST in an NL Central battle. The Reds are a -120 favorite with an over-under of 8.5.
