Thursday’s MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants go for the sweep Thursday afternoon at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks, one of eight games on the MLB schedule.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Giants -139 favorites in the matchup and the Diamondbacks are currently +129 underdogs. The over-under is set at 7 for the game which is slated for a 3:50PM EST start.
Matt Cain ( 2-2, 3.37 ERA) gets the start for the Giants and he will oppose Arizona’s Daniel Hudson (3-4, 4.47 ERA). According to the latest MLB trends, Cain is 7-4 with a 3.19 ERA in 18 career starts versus the Diamondbacks. Hudson has a 2-1 record and a 3.15 ERA in three career starts against the Giants.
Elsewhere in the National League, the Chicago Cubs are home against the rival St. Louis Cardinals at 2:25PM EST. The Cardinals are -141 favorites and the over-under has not been determined overnight. The Atlanta Braves host the Washington Nationals at 7:15PM EST. Atlanta is a -178 favorite with an over-under of 7.5.
Over in the American League, the Cleveland Indians entertain the Tampa Bay Rays at 12:10PM EST. The Indians are a -112 favorite and the over-under is 7. The New York Yankees are home against the Kansas City Royals at 7:10PM EST. The Yankees are a -200 favorite, while the over-under is 9.5.
