Saturday MLB Opening Odds
(The Spread) – The Texas Rangers, owners of the best record in the American League, bested the New York Yankees Friday night to open their series. That series, as well as 14 others in Major League Baseball, will continue Saturday.
Texas defeated New York 5-3 to open the series, getting a 2-for-4 and two RBI night out of designated hitter Michael Young. Shortstop Elvis Andrus scored two runs in the win.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Yankees -125 favorites in the matchup, while the Rangers are +115 underdogs. The over-under is set at 10 for the matchup, which is set for a 1:05PM EST start. Freddy Garcia (0-0, 9.00 ERA) gets the start for New York and Derek Holland (2-0, 2.25 ERA) takes the hill for Texas.
In other American League action, reigning Cy Young award winner Felix Hernandez is on the mound as the Seattle Mariners continue their series at the Kansas City Royals at 1:10PM EST. The Mariners are -140 favorites and the over-under is 7.5. The struggling Boston Red Sox continue their series against the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:10PM EST. Boston is a -210 favorite with an over-under of 9. Detroit has won two in a row at Oakland heading into today’s 9:05PM EST start. The Tigers are a -120 favorite and the over-under is set at 6.5.
Over in the National League, the Atlanta Braves will host a doubleheader against the New York Mets with the first game starting at 4:10PM EST. The Braves are a -170 favoite and the over-under is 8.5 for game one. San Francisco is a -120 favorite and the over-under is 10.5 in its 8:10PM EST contest at Arizona. The Los Angeles Dodgers are at home to continue their series with the red-hot St. Louis Cardinals. The Dodgers are a -145 favorite, while the over-under is 6.5.
