Twins 2015 MLB Season Odds
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (The Spread) – The Twins haven’t had a winning season since 2010 but will their fortunate change with a new manager?
Ron Gardenhire had been the Twins manager since 2002 but he was replaced this offseason by former Twins player Paul Molitor, who takes over a team that oddsmakers clearly don’t believe will be a contender in 2015.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Twins’ over/under for wins in the upcoming regular season has been set at 71.5, which is among the lowest totals for any of the 30 teams. Minnesota is also 100/1 long shots to win the World Series, 50/1 long shots to win the AL Pennant and 18/1 long shots to win the AL Central.
The biggest splash the Twins made this offseason was signing starter Ervin Santana to a four-year deal after he had sporadic success with the Braves. The team will also welcome back former player Torii Hunter, who signed a one-year deal in December, as well as new face John Mayberry Jr.
The Twins will once again rely on Brian Dozier for offensive production after he drove in 71 runs a year ago and hit 23 home runs while stealing 21 bases. Joe Mauer is still a fixture in the lineup at first base after hitting .277 over 455 at bats. Santana will also join a rotation that includes Phil Huges, Kyle Gibson, Ricky Nolasco and Mike Pelfrey.
