Miami Marlins Fantasy Spin
JT Riddle went 2-for-5 with a go-ahead, two-run home run in the 11th inning Thursday in a 7-6 win over the Cardinals. With a runner on and one out in the 11th inning, Cardinals reliever Andrew Miller hung a breaking ball that Riddle yanked over the right field wall for a two-run shot. The homer was Riddle’s third of the year, giving him six RBI and 10 runs scored. It was the first multi-hit game of the year for the 27-year-old, who’s hitting just .200/.238/.363 in 32 games.
Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin
Jay Bruce went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI as his team fell to the Nationals on Thursday. Bruce continues to rake. He took Tanner Rainey deep with nobody aboard in the seventh inning to give himself 20 bombs for the season between the Mariners and Phillies. He also delivered an RBI-single in the fourth inning. He has an .893 OPS in 60 games. The only downside is a .242 batting average, which can be blamed on an unlucky .226 BABIP. A lot of fantasy owners gave up on Bruce after his injury-plagued 2018 season and he is making them pay.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 4-10 in their last 14 games overall.
Philadelphia
The Phillies have won seven of the last nine games that Aaron Nola has started.
Prediction:
With the Phillies struggling, I see this is a good spot to take a confident Marlins team that just earned a split in their four-game series against the Cardinals. Philadelphia is currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak, is 1-4 in its last five games following a loss and is winless over its last four games versus a right-handed starter. I took the Marlins as a large moneyline underdog last night against the Cardinals and they delivered with a 7-6 win in extra innings. Tonight, I like them better on the runline as I see them keeping things close with youngster Sandy Alcantara on the hill.
Friday MLB Prediction: Miami Marlins +1.5 (+105)
