Miami Marlins Fantasy Spin
Martin Prado popped a solo homer in Wednesday’s loss to the Indians. Prado went 1-for-4 on the day and the homer was his first of the season. While the power hasn’t been there, he’s hit pretty well in the early going with a .320/.352/.440 batting line through 53 plate appearances. His days as a mixed league option are over, though.
Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin
Rhys Hoskins went 2-for-4 with a triple and a home run during a 6-0 triumph over the Mets on Wednesday. He led off the eighth inning with a triple and came home on a Maikel Franco knock as the Phillies tacked on a few insurance runs in the late frames. He generated some controversy in the ninth inning. After nearly being beaned in the head twice in Tuesday’s game by reliever Jacob Rhame, Hoskins got a chance for payback in this game. He exacted his revenge against Rhame by jacking a two-run bomb and added some flair by “mic-dropping” his bat and then very slowly trotting around the bases. It was the seventh homer of the year for Hoskins to go with a .273 batting average and 20 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins have won six of Caleb Smith’s last eight starts and are 5-2 in his last seven road outings.
Philadelphia
The Phillies have won 21 of Aaron Nola’s last 28 home starts and are 23-11 in his last 34 outings.
Prediction:
The over is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia and cashed in five of the previous six meetings overall. Meanwhile, the over has been profitable when Nola takes the mound for the Phillies. In his last five starts overall, the over is a perfect 5-0. The over is also 5-2 in Smith’s last seven starts and is 4-1 in the Phillies’ last five home games.
