Starling Marte was removed from Wednesday’s series finale against the Dodgers due to neck stiffness. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but Marte dealt with a neck issue earlier this month, which means he could wind up requiring a trip to the injured list ahead of Thursday’s series opener against the Giants in San Francisco. The 34-year-old veteran outfielder is batting just .222/.329/.333 with one homer and seven steals in 73 plate appearances this season.

Michael Conforto (calf) delivered a two-run homer in the top of the 11th to help the Giants top the Marlins 5-2 on Wednesday. Conforto’s homer gave the Giants the lead, and Mike Yastrzemski later added another two-run shot for insurance. Conforto, who entered the game as a pinch-hitter for the DH in the eighth, was making his first appearance since suffering a strained calf on Saturday. He might be ready to start at DH on Thursday.
