New York Mets DFS SPIN
David Peterson yielded one run over five innings and was handed a loss Friday against the Marlins. It could have been worse, as Peterson gave up eight hits and walked a batter, but the Mets bailed him out with some excellent defense. The lone run scored on a solo homer off the bat of Jorge Soler in the second inning. The southpaw struck out five and got six out of his 11 whiffs on his excellent slider. He’ll continue to hold down a spot in the Mets’ rotation with Justin Verlander and Jose Quintana on the IL, which makes him worth considering to fill out rotations in mixed fantasy leagues.
Milwaukee Brewers DFS SPIN
Corbin Burnes took the Opening Day loss on Thursday after allowing four runs over five innings against the Cubs. All four runs scored in the third inning via a pair of singles and a fielder’s choice. Burnes gave up four hits in all while walking three and striking out three. Not exactly the sort of start fantasy managers were expecting from the No. 1 pitcher off the board in most leagues, but he should show his usual ace form before long.
