Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Corey Seager went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Giants on Wednesday. That Seager had a rough first month back from Tommy John surgery isn’t all that surprising, but things have gotten worse lately; he’s in a 1-for-24 slump at the moment. It’s still not all that alarming, but it’d sure be nice to see him begin to turn it around soon.
San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Ian Kinsler homered, doubled twice and scored three runs Thursday as the Padres crushed the Braves 11-2. For most of the last year, Kinsler’s swing has looked like he’s doing underwater drills. Still, something clicked for him today, and after 30 games, he finally drove in a baserunner besides himself (he had three solo homers and three RBI this season before doubling in Austin Hedges in the fifth inning). He’s still a pretty awful bet to be a productive hitter this season.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 6-0 in Clayton Kershaw’s last six road starts versus the Padres.
San Diego
The Padres are just 5-22 in their last 27 games against the Dodgers when Kershaw starts.
Prediction:
Despite the Dodgers’ ability to put up a bunch of runs, I like the under tonight in San Diego. Kershaw shouldn’t have much issue suppressing San Diego’s offense and Eric Lauer will benefit from pitching tonight at spacious Petco Park despite not having the best numbers. Plus, if the Padres are forced to turn the game over to their bullpen relatively early, their pen has been excellent in the early going of 2019. The under is 5-1 in the Padres’ last six home games.
The Pick: Dodgers/Padres UNDER 7.5
