Angels’ Tropeano allows five runs in less than five innings
Nick Tropeano gave up five runs in just 4 2/3 innings against the Royals on Monday. The good: Tropeano was able to strike out five, and he walked just one. The bad: Pretty much everything else, as the right-hander allowed nine hits and couldn’t make it out of the fifth. When Tropeano has been at his best, he’s looked exceptional. There doesn’t seem to be much in between, however. He’ll attempt to lower his 4.35 ERA in his next start, likely coming against Seattle between next Monday and Wednesday.
Twins’ Romero pitches well against White Sox in last start
Fernando Romero gave up two runs in six innings, but didn’t factor in the decision against the White Sox on Tuesday. Romero gave up a homer to Yoan Moncada to lead off the game, but outside of that and an RBI double to Jose Abreu, the rookie right-hander was excellent. He scattered seven hits, and he didn’t walk anyone while striking out four. It’s especially nice to see considering how much he struggled (eight runs in 1 2/3 innings) on Wednesday against the Royals. He’ll take a 3.96 ERA into his next start on Sunday against the Angels.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 4-1 in Tropeano’s last five starts versus the American League Central and are 5-2 in his last seven outings versus a team with a losing record.
Minnesota
The Twins have dropped four of Romero’s last five starts and are 0-7 in their last seven games versus the American League West.
Prediction:
This has been a low-scoring series and I don’t see anything that would warrant an ‘over’ play on Sunday. The under is 4-1 in Romero’s last five starts versus a team with a winning record and has cashed in five of the last seven meetings between these two teams overall. On the other side, the under is 5-1-1 in Tropeano’s last seven road starts and is 3-1-3 in his last seven road outings versus a team with a losing record.
The Pick: Angels/Twins under 9
