Indians’ Bieber dominates in win over Tigers
Shane Bieber was dominant in Friday’s victory over the Tigers, racking up a career-high nine strikeouts over seven shutout innings. Bieber allowed just four hits and one walk over his seven brilliant frames. Through his first three starts, he now boasts a 2.45 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 22/3 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings. It’s probably time to start taking him seriously from a mixed league perspective. He’ll do battle against the Cardinals his next time out in St. Louis on Wednesday.
Cardinals’ Flaherty matches career high with 13 strikeouts
Jack Flaherty allowed one earned run, one hit and two walks over seven innings Friday at Milwaukee while matching a career best with 13 strikeouts. The stat line was outstanding, but he and his fantasy owners had to settle for a no-decision since Junior Guerra and the Brewers bullpen matched him. It was an impressive showing considering Flaherty threw first-pitch strikes to just 13 of the 25 batters he faced. He’ll look to get back into the win column on Wednesday against Shane Bieber and the visiting Cleveland Indians.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians have won seven of their last nine games overall but dropped the first two games of this series.
St. Louis
The Cardinals have won four straight, beating the Brewers twice over the weekend and winning the first two games of this series.
Prediction:
We’re finally starting to see what this St. Louis offense is capable of. Matt Carpenter went 5-for-5 last night with two home runs, Jose Martinez continues to rip the cover off the ball, Marcell Ozuna is having a great month and Kolten Wong even went yard. The Cardinals absolutely battered Kluber last night in the shortest outing of his career and while Bieber has pitched well, Flathery is making a case to win rookie of the year. With the Cardinals 4-1 in Flathery’s last five home starts and 5-2 in his last seven outings overall, I like the Cards to pull off the sweep.
The Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -110
