Reds’ Romano has struggled since opening start of season
Sal Romano struggled with command Thursday, walking four while allowing five hits and four runs — three earned — in a no-decision against the Cardinals.
Romano gave up two early runs but was bailed out by his offense, which knotted the game in the bottom of the first, but he allowed runs in the third and fifth innings and didn’t end up factoring in the game.
Along with the four walks, he also struck out four. He threw a quality start in his first outing but hasn’t been overly impressive in any of his three starts, owning a 5.87 ERA and 1.63 WHIP on the year.
Guerra sticking in Brewers’ rotation at the moment
Junior Guerra tossed 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball in a win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Guerra scattered two walks and four hits in what was his regular-season major league debut. It still isn’t clear whether this was a spot start or possibly something more permanent. He might be a decent option in long relief for a Brewers bullpen that has been taxed since Corey Knebel (hamstring) went down.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds have won five of their last seven games against the Brewers but are just 3-7 in their last 10 games at Miller Park despite winning last night.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 1-5 in their last six home games but are 10-3 in their last 13 games coming off a loss.
Prediction:
I love the over 9 runs here. In the last 21 meetings between these two teams in Milwaukee, the over is 16-4-1. In the last 16 meetings overall, the over is also 11-5. The over is also 5-2 in Romano’s last seven starts coming off four days of rest and should struggle against this Milwaukee lineup tonight. And while Guerra pitched well versus the Cardinals, I doubt he posts back-to-back shut down games.
The Pick: Reds/Brewers over 9
