Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Aristides Aquino went 2-for-2 with his first major-league home run and a walk in the Reds’ extra-inning loss to the Braves on Saturday. Aquino was the lone Reds’ starter to reach base in the opening six frames before clobbering a game-tying three-run homer off Braves starter Dallas Keuchel in the seventh inning. The 25-year-old outfielder singled to center field with two-outs in the second to record his first big-league hit. He also drew a one-out walk in the fifth. He’s expected to be given an everyday opportunity to prove he belongs in the Reds’ long-term plans after posting a superb .299/.356/.636 slash-line with 28 home runs in 78 games at Triple-A Louisville this season. There’s some legitimate NL-Only value to be extracted here and he should be on the fantasy radar in deeper mixed leagues.
Atlanta Braves Fantasy Spin
Ozzie Albies went 2-for-4 with a triple, two stolen bases and a pair of runs scored in the Braves’ extra-inning victory over the Reds on Saturday. Albies singled, swiped second base and was eventually stranded at third base in the opening frame. He drew a leadoff walk, stole second and crossed the plate on a wild pitch by Trevor Bauer in the third inning. He also smacked a one-out triple and scored on a double by ensuing batter Freddie Freeman in the fifth before grounding out with the bases loaded in the eighth. The 22-year-old second baseman has delivered a solid campaign for fantasy purposes, hitting .287/.345/.478 with 68 runs scored, 15 home runs, 58 RBI and 10 stolen bases across 481 plate appearances.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds have won seven of Sonny Gray’s last nine starts but are just 5-11 in their last 16 road games.
Atlanta
The Braves have won 21 of Julio Teheran’s last 26 starts on Sunday and are 8-3 in his last 11 home outings.
Prediction:
The under would have hit last night had Shane Greene not blown his first save with the Braves but it nevertheless is the best play on the board today in Atlanta. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams, is 5-2 in Teheran’s last seven starts and is 12-3-1 in the Braves’ last 16 home games. On the other side, the under is 7-3 in Gray’s last 10 road starts and is 45-19-1 in the Reds’ last 65 games on the road.
The Pick: Reds/Braves UNDER 9
