Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-4 with an RBI groundout in Sunday’s loss to the Padres. Rizzo got the Cubs on the board early against Padres rookie Adrian Morejon, driving in a run with a groundout in the first inning, but it turned out to be the only run the North Siders would muster in the contest. The pair of hits extended Rizzo’s hitting streak to 12 games, and he’s got a ridiculous nine multi-hit games in that stretch. That’s a .488 batting average, for those scoring at home. The scorching string of games has his season line up to a robust .293/.400/.537 with 20 homers, 68 RBI, 65 runs scored and four steals in 95 games this year.
San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Mike Yastrzemski hit an opposite-field, walk-off solo home run in the 12th inning to give the Giants a 3-2 win over the Mets on Sunday. Yastrzemski was hitless in the contest before stepping to the dish against Mets reliever Robert Gsellman with one out in the 12th inning. On a full count delivery the 28-year-old outfielder launched one the other way, clearing a leaping Jeff McNeil and landing in the glove of a fan in the first row of seats to send the fans — that one in particular — home happy. Not short on power, Yastrzemski now has nine homers in 48 games but owns a pedestrian .259 batting average and .303 on-base percentage in those 48 games. He’s part of a suddenly-crowded outfield situation in San Francisco.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs have won four of their last five games overall and are 5-1 in their last six games versus a right-handed starter.
San Francisco
The Giants have won seven of their last eight games versus a right-hander and are 5-1 in their last six contests at Oracle Park.
Prediction:
I like the pitching matchup for the Cubs better than I do the Giants but San Francisco has some devil magic working right now so I don’t want to play Chicago on the moneyline (even though the Cubs are relatively inexpensive tonight). What I do like is the under. For all of their good fortunate of late, they still can’t hit at home and didn’t rack up many runs over the weekend versus the Mets. In fact, the under is 4-1 in the Giants’ last five home games and is 5-2 in their last seven games overall, most of which came at Oracle Park. Shaun Anderson hasn’t pitched well for San Francisco but his mistakes are often masked by his big home ballpark. The under is also 6-0 in the Cubs’ last six games and is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams.
The Pick: Cubs/Giants UNDER 9
