Your guess is as good as mine as far as how Rom will fare in his major league debut tonight at PNC Park. He was acquired from the Orioles on August 1 in exchange for veteran Jack Flaherty and in two starts at Triple-A Memphis, Rom recorded a pair of wins while allowing just two runs (one earned) in 11 innings. Meanwhile, Thomas Hatch is expected to start for the Pirates, but that’s not official as if this writing. The Cardinals offense has been inconsistent but the bullpen has been good this month and they could need it if Rom only goes a couple of innings. Give me the better team in St. Louis.
