Orioles’ Ramirez labors through five innings vs. Red Sox
Yefry Ramirez struck out six but served up a trio of solo home runs over five innings Tuesday, getting a win in the Orioles’ 7-6 victory over the Red Sox. Ramirez yielded just four hits in his five frames, but three of them left the yard, as J.D. Martinez, Blake Swihart and Mookie Betts all took the right-hander deep. He needed 92 pitches to get through his five innings. Ramirez has pitched well enough to where he should get another turn Sunday versus the Rays.
Rangers’ Perez escapes with no-decision vs. Diamondbacks
Martin Perez allowed four runs (one earned) on six hits over five innings of work in a no-decision against the D-backs on Monday. Perez coughed up a go-ahead three-run homer to Steven Sousa with two outs in the fifth inning. All three of the runs were unearned thanks to a throwing error by third baseman Adrian Beltre earlier in the frame. The Rangers offense managed to get him off the hook by outscoring Arizona 6-1 over the final four innings. Perez struck out five batters and issued a pair of walks. The 27-year-old lefty is 2-4 with a 6.50 ERA in nine starts. He will face the Orioles at home on Sunday in his next outing.
