Orioles’ Gausman strikes out six in win over Rays
Kevin Gausman picked up his third victory of the season on Friday, limiting the Rays to two runs on 11 hits over 7 1/3 innings. The right-hander punched out six and didn’t walk a batter in the ballgame. He allowed an RBI single to C.J. Cron in the third inning, then left a runner on when he departed in the eighth who eventually came around to score. Gausman has pitched very well this season, compiling a 3.18 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 42/12 K/BB ratio across 51 innings.
Red Sox’ Price allows just two runs in win over Blue Jays
David Price held the Blue Jays to two runs in 5 1/3 innings to earn a win on Saturday. He allowed an RBI-single to Anthony Alford and a solo dinger to Justin Smoak to account for the damage. He struck out six batters, walked three and surrendered five knocks. The veteran hurler has battled carpal tunnel syndrome of late and was pummeled for seven runs in his last outing, so this game was an encouraging sign.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are winless in their last six games versus the Red Sox and are 1-4 in Gausman’s last five starts versus Boston.
Boston
The Red Sox are 4-0 in Price’s last four starts versus the Orioles.
Prediction:
The Red Sox are expensive but they should handle Gausman and the Orioles tonight. Baltimore is 1-4 in Gausman’s last five road starts, is 1-5 in his last six outings when its opponent scores five runs or more in their previous game, and is 8-18 in his last 26 road starts versus an opponent with a winning record. Meanwhile, the REd Sox have won 20 of 28 coming off a win and 17 of 24 against the rest of the American League East.
The Pick: Boston Red Sox -155
