Braves’ Sanchez effective over seven innings vs. Natinals

Anibal Sanchez allowed just two unearned runs on Sunday against the Nationals in a no decision. The only runs allowed by Sanchez came on a homer by Trea Turner in the third, and those runs were unearned as the previous hitter reached via an error by Dansby Swanson. Take away those miscues and Sanchez was outstanding; striking out five and allowing just two hits and one walk. The seven blameless innings lowers his ERA to 2.16 on the season.

Dodgers’ Wood crushed by Rockies at Coors Field in last start

Alex Wood was touched up for six earned runs, five hits and three walks with just two strikeouts over two innings in a no-decision Sunday at Colorado. Wood threw 33 of his 61 pitches for strikes while also hitting a batter, throwing first-pitch strikes to just eight of the 15 batters he faced. It was a dream season for Wood in 2017, as the southpaw made an All-Star appearance.

However, 2018 has been a nightmare for Wood and his fantasy owners, as he has dropped four of his five decisions while checking in with a 4.48 ERA. As good as he was last season, his 1.13 WHIP this season isn’t far off from his 1.06 WHIP of 2017. However, the bounces are going against him more often than not. Fantasy owners need to stick with him at this point and hope some more bounces go his way like last season

MLB Betting Trends

Atlanta

The Braves are 8-20 in their last 28 road games versus the Dodgers and are 8-21 in their last 29 meetings with L.A. overall.

Los Angeles

The Dodgers have won 25 of Wood’s last 36 starts an are 12-5 in his last 17 home outings.

Prediction:

These two teams combined for 10 runs on Friday night but I see this game falling under the total tonight. The under is 7-2 in Wood’s last nine home starts versus a team with a winning record and is 14-6-1 in the Braves’ last 21 games versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. I know Wood got routed in his last start but that was at Coors Field. I expect him to rebound for the Dodgers and since Sanchez has been better than expected for the Braves, I like the under here.

The Pick: Braves/Dodgers under 7.5
