Tigers’ 2015 MLB Betting Odds
DETROIT, MI (The Spread) – How many games will the Tigers win in the 2015 MLB regular season? Their over/under total is intriguing.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers’ over/under for number of wins in 2015 has been set at 84.5. Right off the bat, it would be tempting to take the over since they haven’t finished with fewer than 88 wins since they won 81 games back in 2010, but there are some things to consider before jumping on the over.
For starters, the team will be without Max Scherzer after the free agent pitcher signed a massive contract with the Nationals this offseason. That puts a lot of pressure on ace David Price, as well as fellow starters Justin Verlander, Anibal Sanchez, Alfredo Simon (acquired from the Reds) and Shane Green. While the rotation is certainly good enough to keep the Tigers competitive, Scherzer won 18, 21 and 16 games over the last three years so his loss might be too much for Detroit to overcome.
The club also received bad news from an injury standpoint when Victor Martinez tore his meniscus while training this offseason. He had surgery and is only supposed to miss a few weeks, but the injury is just another reminder of how the Tigers’ window to win a World Series isn’t going to stay open forever. Fortunately for Detroit, the team added slugger Yoenis Cespedes in a trade with the Red Sox this winter in order to help Miguel Cabrera power the offense.)
The Tigers are currently 18/1 to win the 2015 World Series, 8/1 to win the AL Pennant and 9/4 to win the AL Central Division.
