Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have made the White Sox +2500 to win the 2011 World Series and +160 to win the AL Central. The Sox also have an over/under total of 86 for wins in 2011.

Offseason Additions: The Sox signed DH Adam Dunn to a four-year, $56 million deal and in the process gave up their No. 23 overall draft pick to the Nationals. The club re-signed Paul Konerko to a three-year deal, gave catcher A.J. Pierzynski a two-year deal Matt Thornton a one-year contract and Omar Vizquel a new one-year pact. Alexei Ramirez, Ramon Castro, Will Ohman and Jesse Crain also received new deals.

Offseason Losses: Perhaps the biggest loss was former closer Bobby Jenks, who signed a deal with the Red Sox to setup Jonathan Papelbon. But the Sox also parted ways with J.J. Putz, Freddy Garcia, Scott Linebrink, Manny Ramirez, Andruw Jones, Mak Kotsay and Erick Threets.

Season Outlook: There’s a lot of optimism surrounding the White Sox right now, as well there should be. They won 88 games last year and added more pop to their lineup with the addition of Dunn. The only question is whether or not their starting pitching will hold up. Jake Peavy, Mark Buehrle, Gavin Floyd and John Danks are all prone to injures and/or slumps and if any of them are out for an extended period of time, the Sox may fall behind either the Tigers or Twins in the division. Plus, there’s a good chance that players like Konerko and Alex Rios will take step backs after productive 2010 campaigns, so there are still plenty of question marks surrounding this team. That said, the AL Central will once again be a wide open race and there’s no doubt the ChiSox have as good a chance as any of winning the division.
