Rangers 2011 Season Betting Odds
(The Spread) – The Texas Rangers may have won the AL Pennant last season, but that was with the help of Cliff Lee. Can the repeat without him?

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Rangers +800 to repeat as American League champs and +2000 on the money line to win the 2011 World Series. Their over/under total for number of wins this season is 86; the juice is set at –140 on the over and +110 on the under, so clearly oddsmakers think Texas has a realistic chance of reaching 90 wins again.
Offseason Additions: The Rangers added Mike Napoli via trade and also signed Adrian Beltre to a free agent contract. Among their other offseason additions were Brandon Webb, Dave Bush, Arthur Rhodes and Yorvit Torrealba.
Offseason Losses: The biggest loss was obviously Lee, who surprised the Rangers and Yankees and signed with the Phillies. The Rangers also lost Jorge Cantu, Vladimir Guerrero, Mark Prior, Jeff Francoeur, Rich Harden and Brandon McCarthy from their 2010 AL West championship team.
Season Outlook: Texas fans remain optimistic that even without Lee, the Rangers have a chance to repeat as division champs. But the A’s and Angels improved over the offseason, while Texas lost its most important piece in Lee. They also lost their top RBI producer in Guerrero and while their lineup will still score plenty of runs thanks to Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz, it’ll be interesting to see if C.J. Wilson, Colby Lewis and new addition Brandon Webb can carry the pitching staff. If Webb surprises, then maybe Texas can win another AL West title and catch fire in the postseason. If not, don’t be surprised if this club finishes no better than third in a wide-open division.
