Marlins 2011 Season Betting Odds
(The Spread) – As usual, there’s plenty of upside when it comes to the Florida Marlins. But do they have enough to compete in the NL East?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, the Marlins are +4000 to win the 2011 World Series and +700 to win the NL East Division. The Fish also have an over/under of 82.5 for wins in 2011.
Offseason Additions: The Marlins inked catcher John Buck to a three-year deal and also signed starter Javier Vazquez to a one-year contract. Reliever Randy Choate received a two year deal and the club also acquired RP Dustin Richardson from the Red Sox for P Andrew Miller. But the biggest move the Marlins made this offseason was trading second baseman Dan Uggla to the Braves in exchange for Michael Dunn and Omar Infante.
Offseason Losses: Along with Uggla, the Fish also traded Cameron Maybin to the Padres in exchange for Edward Mujica and Ryan Webb. The team did not bring back Ronny Paulino, Brett Carroll, Jorge Sosa, Taylor Tankersley and Will Ohman.
Season Outlook: The Marlins always seem to have a youthful exuberance to them 2011 is no different. The loss of Uggla hurts, but this club is still built around Hanley Ramirez and Josh Johnson, although a third place finish seems highly likely. The Phillies are absolutely stacked and the Braves improved their roster this winter as well. One player to keep an eye on his Mike Stanton, who could develop into a great player if his power develops like scouts expect.
