Brewers 2011 MLB Season Odds
(The Spread) – After acquiring a former Cy Young winner this offseason, the Milwaukee Brewers like their chances to finish on top in the NL Central.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com list the Brewers’ 2011 World Series odds at +1500 and their NL Central odds at +150. Milwaukee also has an over/under win total of 86.5 games this season.
Biggest Offseason Addition: No offense to any other player the Brewers picked up this offseason but there was no bigger addition to this club than pitcher Zack Greinke. Milwaukee knew it needed more pitching if its going to make a run at the NL Central crown this year and when the Royals made Greinke available, the Brew Crew pounced. After putting together a historic 2009 season, he took a major step back in 2010 but he must be rejuvenated to be out of Kansas City and actually playing for a contender. Unfortunately, he’s going to start the season on the DL with a rib injury but assuming he returns to full health, Greinke should make a seamless transition from the AL to the NL.
Biggest Loss: Trevor Hoffman decided to retire in the offseason, although with the way he pitched last year his departure is hardly viewed as a “loss.” (No offense to the future Hall of Famer.) The team also parted ways with Doug Davis, David Riske, Dave Bush, Jim Edmonds, Alcides Escobar, Gregg Zaun, Lorenzo Cain, Jeff Suppan, Bill Hall, Braden Looper and manager Ken Macha.
Season Outlook: Pretty good if Greinke can get healthy. The Brew Crew also acquired Shaun Marcum this offseason, which will give their already stout pitching staff another boost. The offense should be excellent too with Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun and Rickie Weeks all coming back. But this club traded five of their top prospects in the last year and Fielder is a free agent after this season, so the Brewers must win now. With Adam Wainwright suffering a season-ending injury in spring training, the door is wide open for the Brewers to claim the NL Central, although the defending champion Reds won’t just hand over the division. Still, the Brewers might have the best collection of talent among the six teams in the Central and it’s essentially their division to lose. The fan base has high expectations for this club, which it should.
