Braves 2011 Season Odds
(The Spread) – The Atlanta Braves made a big trade this offseason and many pundits believe that they are poised for a postseason run.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Braves +2000 on the money line to win the 2011 World Series and +400 to win the NL East Division. Atlanta also has an over/under win total of 87 games this season.
Offseason Additions: Without a doubt, the biggest move the Braves made this offseason was acquiring second baseman Dan Uggla for the Marlins and signing him to a new five-year, $62 million deal. Uggla is coming off his best offensive season of his career and now gives Atlanta added pop in the middle of its lineup. The Braves also re-signed Alex Gonzalez to a one-year deal and agreed to terms with Eric Hinske and George Sherrill. One other trade the Braves made was sending Kyle Cofield to the White Sox for pitcher Scott Linebrink.
Offseason Losses: The club parted ways with infielder Omar Infante and pitcher Mike Dunn in the Uggla trade, as well as Cofield in the Linebrink deal. The Braves also lost Billy Wagner, Takashi Saito, Kyle Farnsworth, Scot Diamond, Mekly Cabrera, Troy Glaus, Matt Diaz, Derrek Lee and Rick Ankiel this offseason.
Season Outlook: The Braves might not have enough to contend all year with the Phillies and their amazing pitching staff, but Atlanta will at least be in the mix for the Wild Card. It’ll be weird not seeing Bobby Cox in the dugout for Braves games, but new manager Fredi Gonzalez is respected by his players (save for maybe Hanley Ramirez!) and he’ll do a great job. This team has enough offensive talent in Uggla, second-year phenom Jason Heyward and Brian McCann. What will make or break this team (besides its pitching, which is solid) is whether or not important role players like Chipper Jones, Alex Gonzalez and Nate McLouth can have productive years. It’ll also be important for guys like Jones and Jair Jurrjens stay healthy (and/or bounce back from injury-plagued 2010 campaigns).
