Rays drop series finale
Tampa Bay fell by a score of 6-4 Sunday afternoon at the Angels to drop to 89-62 overall and 46-30 on the road. Austin Meadows paced the Rays offensively as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Tommy Pham went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Avisail Garcia ended the contest 2-for-4. Ryan Yarbrough took the loss as he surrendered six earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks over five innings. Blake Snell will make his first MLB start in almost two months tonight as he returns from injury sporting a 6-7 record, 4.28 ERA and 1.25 WHIP plus 136 strikeouts over 101 innings pitched.
Dodgers edge Mets
Los Angeles secured a 3-2 win at the Mets on Sunday night Baseball to improve to 97-54 overall and 41-37 on the road. Corey Seager helped pace the Dodgers offensively as he ended the night 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gavin Lux finished 2-for-4 with a double. Chris Taylor went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Kenley Jansen picked up the win in relief as he struck out one in one perfect inning of relief. Kenta Meada notched the save as he struck out one and walked one in two-thirds of a scoreless frame. Ross Stripling will start tonight for LA as he comes in with a 4-4 record, 3.40 ERA and 1.13 WHIP plus 82 strikeouts over 84 2/3 inings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Rays are 5-0 in their last five series openers. Tampa Bay is 4-0 in the last four Snell starts.
The Dodgers are 51-16 in their last 67 home games. Los Angeles is 16-5 in its lsat 21 Tuesday games.
Snell will be making his anticipated return and while he will assuredly be on a strict pitch count, the Rays are strong in the bullpen and should be in good shape to stay right in this game. The Dodgers' bullpen has looked shaky lately and Stripling isn't likely to pitch deep. This is a rare case where I like an opponent makes a great play at Dodger Stadium.
