M's roll past Rangers
Seattle claimed an 11-3 victory Sunday afternoon at Texas to improve to 58-80 overall and 29-40 on the road. Kyle Seager helped pace the Mariners offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a home run, a walk and three RBIs. Daniel Vogelbach went 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks, three runs scored and two RBIs. Tom Murphy was 2-for-6 with a solo homer. Tim Lopes ended the contest 3-for-5 with a double, a walk and two runs. Yusei Kikuchi picked up the win as he gave up three earned runs on six hits with one strikeout and no walks over five innings. Justus Sheffield draws the start today as he comes in with an 0-1 record, 7.94 ERA and 1.94 WHIP plus 11 strikeouts over 11 1/3 innings of work.
Cubs shut out for second straight day
Chicago lost by a count of 4-0 Sunday afternoon at home versus Milwaukee to drop to 73-63 overall and 45-24 at home. Kris Bryant and Addison Russell helped lead the Cubs offensive effort as they were both 1-for-3 plus a walk. Victor Caratini and Ian Happ each finished 1-for-4. Tyler Chatwood took the loss as he allowed one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts and four walks over 3 2/3 innings. Kyle Hendricks gets the start today as he comes in with a 9-9 record, 3.47 ERA and 1.12 WHIP plus 124 strikeouts over 148 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Mariners are 18-39 in their last 57 road games. Seattle is 2-5 in its last seven games overall.
The Cubs are 1-5 in their last six home games. Chicago is 12-5 in the last 17 Hendricks home starts.
Chicago has been on the struggle bus offensively the last couple games, but there is a great opportunity to bust out here against a rookie that hasn't had much success at the MLB level in a small sample size. With plenty of right-handed power in the lineup, I think the Cubs sock a few home runs today and roll to a win behind the efficient Hendricks.
