Turner homers in loss

Los Angeles lost by a count of 11-5 at Arizona Thursday night to drop to 88-48 overall and 36-30 on the road. Hyun-Jin Ryu took the loss as he surrendered seven earned runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and one walk over 4 2/3 innings. Justin Turner led the Dodgers offense as he went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs. Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Cody Bellinger was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks. Tony Gonsolin drawas the start tonight for LA as he enters with a 2-1 record, 2.74 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 23 innings.

Escobar helps power D-backs

Arizona recorded an 11-5 home win Thursday night over Los Angeles to improve to 68-66 overall and 31-32 at home. Eduardo Escobar helped lead the Diamondbacks offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Wilmer Flores was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs. Carson Kelly was a perfect 3-for-3 plus a walk. Adam Jones ended the game 1-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Nick Ahmed finished 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Matt Andriese picked up the win in relief as he gave up one earned run on one hit with no strikeouts and two walks over one inning. Zac Gallen gets the start tonight as he comes in with a 2-4 record, 2.56 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 68 strikeouts over 56 1/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are 19-9 in their last 28 games overall. Los Angeles is 57-25 in its last 82 games versus the NL West.

Arizona

The Diamondbacks are 4-1 in their last five home games. Arizona is 4-1 in the last five home meetings versus LA.

Prediction:

After last night's rout by the Diamondbacks, I think they fall back to earth a bit today. But I also expect Gallen to keep them right in to. Arizona still has thoughts of a Wild Card bid even if it is a longshot. Wins like this are important and Los Angeles hasn't played nearly as well on the road this season. While Gonsolin has been solid, the Dodgers have kept his pitch counts reduced. Look for Arizona to get to the middle relief and notch another win.
