Stanton cranks 29th homer
Giancarlo Stanton helped lead the Yankees offense in a 5-3 win Saturday as he went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Miguel Andujar finished 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Greg Bird was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run and an RBI. Dellin Betances earned the win in relief as he threw 1 1/3 spotless innings, striking out two. Aroldis Chapman picked up his 30th save as he worked around a hit and a walk, striking out two in an inning of scoreless baseball.
Choo has three-hit day
Rangers right fielder Shin-Soo Choo finished yesterday’s loss 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored to pace the offense. Rougned Odor went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run. Elvis Andrus was 1-for-4 with a walk plus an RBI. Adrian Beltre was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Ronald Guzman walked twice in four plate appearances, one day after hitting three home runs. Chris Martin suffered the loss in relief as he gave up two earned runs on two hits over two-thirds of an inning.
Martin Perez (2-4, 6.15 ERA) will start today for Texas, while New York turns to CC Sabathia (6-4, 3.49).
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 16-35 in their last 51 Sunday games. The under is 15-5-3 in Perez’s last 23 Sunday starts.
New York
The over is 9-1-1 in Sabathia’s last 11 starts versus Texas. The Yankees are 59-20 in their last 79 home games.
Prediction:
Perez is one of the most hittable starting pitchers in baseball and is bound to give up a long ball or two in Yankee Stadium today against a lineup featuring hitters who torch lefties such as Stanton and Andujar. Sabathia has been a very serviceable starter this season and has continued to evolve with age. I like New York to win big today and therefore I am wagering on the runline bet.
