Semien tattooed an opposite-field two-run tater off Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks in the second inning and drilled a solo shot to left-center field off reliever Steve Cishek in eighth. It was the sixth multi-homer game of his career. The 28-year-old shortstop has gone deep five times in 22 games since the All-Star break. It was his first home run in a Cubs uniform and . He also beat out an infield single in the third inning and plated a key insurance run with an RBI double in the seventh. The 27-year-old outfielder figures to play a prominent role as a middle-of-the-order presence in the Cubs postseason push, especially with Willson Contreras sidelined for at least the next month.
