Rockies vs. Cardinals Prediction
Will the Cardinals’ success against the Rockies continue Wednesday night when they host Colorado at 8:15PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are -150 money line favorites versus the Rockies, who have odds of +140 to pull off the upset in St. Louis. With Jeff Hoffman set to face Carlos Martinez in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Hoffman was rocked for seven runs over three-plus innings in Friday’s loss to the Pirates. Hoffman was in trouble throughout. He was pulled after the first three batters reached to begin the fourth inning. The rookie right-hander gave up nine hits while walking four. He now has a 7.79 ERA at home this season compared to a 2.45 on the road.
Martinez was charged with three runs over six frames Friday against the Cubs, taking a no-decision in what turned out to be an 11-4 Cardinals win. It wasn’t one of Martinez’s best efforts, as the 10 hits he surrendered was easily a season high (he hadn’t given up more than seven base knocks previously) and he struck out only three. The righty was still able to notch a second straight quality start, though. Martinez hasn’t been very sharp so far in July with a 5.87 ERA and just 15 whiffs over 23 frames. He’ll aim for his first win since mid-June next week at home versus the Rockies.
Bet Tonight’s Rockies vs. Cardinals Game
OUR PREDICTION: The over has hit in nine of Colorado’s last 11 games and is 4-1 in the Rockies’ last five games on the road, so if you’re looking to bet the total, the over has been a solid play when these teams meet. That said, the Cardinals have already won the first two games of this series, are 5-1 in their last six games against the Rockies, and 5-1 in their last six games when playing Colorado at home. With their ace on the mound tonight, I like the Cards to continue their success against the Rox with another victory today.
