White Sox snap seven-game skid
Chicago pulled away from host Tampa Bay Friday night to record a 9-2 victory and end improve to 43-51 overall and 18-31 on the road. Leury Garcia led the White Sox offensively as he went 4-for-5 with three doubles, three runs and two RBIs. Yolmer Sanchez ended the game 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Yoan Moncada finished 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Reynaldo Lopez picked up the win as he gave up two earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over seven innings. Lucas Giolito will start tonight for Chicago as he enters with an 11-4 record, 3.23 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 125 strikeouts over 106 innings.
McKay hit hard in defeat
Tampa Bay fell by a count of 9-2 Friday night to drop to 56-44 overall and 26-23 at home. Brendan McKay suffered the loss as he allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts and no walks over 3 1/3 innings. Joey Wendle led the Rays offensively as he went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored. Michael Brosseau went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Ji-Man Choi was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Ryan Yarbrough will start today for Tampa Bay as he comes in with an 8-3 record, 4.26 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 53 strikeouts over 69 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are 1-4 in the last five Giolito starts. Chicago is 8-1 in its last nine games on astroturf.
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 1-5 in their last six games versus a right-handed starter. Tampa Bay is 51-24 in its last 75 games versus a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
Giolito has taken a bit of a step back and faces a Rays offense that is pretty darn good at home and looking to bust out after a bit of a rough patch. With the White Sox not likely to put up a big number versus Yarbrough and the Tampa Bay bullpen, I like the hosts’ chances to even the series here.
