Moran drives in lone run
Pittsburgh lost by a score of 3-1 Saturday night at Milwaukee to drop to 39-42 overall and 22-23 on the road. Colin Moran helped lead the Pirates offense as he ended the game 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Kevin Newman was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Corey Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a double. Jordan Lyles took the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks in six innings. Steven Brault gets the start today for Pittsburgh as he enters with a 3-1 record, 4.50 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 44 strikeouts over 52 innings of work.
Thames guides Brewers to win
Milwaukee secured a 3-1 victory Saturday night at home over Pittsburgh to move to 44-39 overall and 26-18 at home. Eric Thames led the Brewers offensively as he finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and two RBIs. Yasmani Grandal went 2-for-4 with a double. Christian Yelich ended the game 0-for-2 but drew two walks and scored a run. Brandon Woodruff picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on six hits over 7 2/3 innings, striking out six and no walks. Zach Davies draws the start today for Milwaukee as he comes in with a 7-2 record, 3.34 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 57 strikeouts over 86 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Pirates are 7-2 in their last nine games overall. Pittsburgh is 6-2 in the last eight Brault starts.
The Brewers are 16-5 in their last 21 Sunday games. Milwaukee is 4-1 in the last five Davies home starts.
While Milwaukee's offense still isn't quite clicking on all cylinders right now, it has the starting pitching advantage here and for whatever reason the Brewers excel on Sundays. I think yesterday and today could serve as a springboard to get the Brewers trending back in a positive direction. Look for the hosts to get the job done here.
