Rockies’ Bettis touched up by Mets in last start
Chad Bettis coughed up eight earned runs, nine hits and five walks over just 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Wednesday. Bettis threw just 56 of his 97 pitches for strikes, including just 16 first-pitch strikes to the 27 batters he faced, for a game score of just 13. He has been horrible at home, posting a 0-0 record with an 8.75 ERA in seven starts at Coors Field vs. a 5-1 record and 2.70 ERA in eight starts away from home. Fortunately for his fantasy owners his next scheduled start will be Tuesday in San Francisco before working on the road against the Dodgers next Sunday.
Giants’ Holland pitches into seventh in victory vs. Marlins
Derek Holland gave up three runs in six-plus innings with seven strikeouts in a victory over the Marlins on Wednesday. Holland has struggled to get deep into games in 2018, but he was able to pitch into the seventh in this one. Unfortunately, he gave up two runs in that seventh inning, and exited without getting an out. It was still a relatively strong start for the southpaw, even if it didn’t end quite as well as he’d have liked. Holland’s next scheduled start comes Tuesday against the Rockies.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are 2-5 in their last seven road games and 0-7 in their last seven games versus National League West rivals.
San Francisco
The Giants are 13-3 in their last 16 games versus a right-handed starter and are 5-1 in their last six home games.
Prediction:
The Rockies are 4-0 in Bettis’ last four starts versus the Giants and despite their recent woes, they’re 6-2 in his last eight road outings. They’re also 6-2 in their last eight games following an off day and are 6-2 in their last eight road games versus an opponent with a winning record.
