Diamondbacks’ Godley turns in quality start against Pirates
Zack Godley allowed three runs — two earned — over six innings in a win over the Pirates on Thursday. Godley was much better than he needed to be after the D’backs offense staked him to an eight-run lead. He was a good steward of the run support, allowing four hits and walking three while striking out five over his six innings of work. It was the third consecutive start and his fourth in his last five in which Godley has allowed two earned runs, lowering his ERA for the third straight outing. He’ll continue to work on his 4.64 ERA, and will have a good opportunity to do so, Tuesday when the Diamondbacks head east to visit the Marlins.
Hernandez allowed three home runs in last start in early June
Elieser Hernandez was pulled after giving up five runs and three homers to the Diamondbacks on Friday. Hernandez, who never pitched higher than A-ball before being plucked from the Astros system in the Rule 5 draft, was surprisingly successful in his first three big-league starts, allowing five runs over 15 innings. One bad start doesn’t figure to cost him his rotation spot, though he still doesn’t project to have fantasy value going forward.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are now 0-4 in their last four games played in Miami but are 4-1 in their last five games versus the Marlins overall.
Miami
The Marlins have won four of their last five home games.
Prediction:
I like the Diamondbacks to rebound. They’re 4-1 in Goldey’s last five starts, are 4-1 in his last five outings versus a team with a losing record, and are 18-6 in his last 24 starts when their opponent scores five runs or more in their previous game. The Marlins have only one four straight games one other time this season. I don’t see them accomplishing the feat with a victory again tonight.
The Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -150
