The pitching matchup tonight has Josh Tomlin (4-8, 5.83 ERA) taking the mound for Cleveland to face Chris Tillman (1-5, 8.07) of the Orioles. Tillman is really struggling. His ERA has jumped up 2.5 runs over the last two weeks as he has allowed 14 earned runs over his last 6.2 innings. On the year he has just 26 strikeouts with 19 walks and a 2.10 WHIP. Tomlin hasn’t been doing all too well either, allowing at least three runs in five of his last six starts. He has 51 strikeouts with six walks this season and a WHIP of 1.38.
Cleveland opened this series with a 12-0 win on Monday night in the first meeting between these two this season. The Indians are now 37-31 overall and 22-14 on the road while Baltimore is 34-35 overall and 23-12 at home.
The Indians dominated the opener last night as Corey Kluber threw a complete-game shutout. He allowed just three hits and had 11 strikeouts with no walks to improve to 6-2 on the season. Dylan Bundy took the loss, allowing six runs in 4.1 innings. Carlos Santana and Austin Jackson each drove in three runs to lead Cleveland while Lonnie Chisenhall had three hits and two RBI.
The Indians are rolling right now, winning six straight. While Tomlin hasn’t been great on the mound, he hasn’t been nearly as bad as Tillman. Tillman is averaging two baserunners per inning and nearly a run per inning as well. The Indians aren’t having any trouble hitting right now, so look for them to light up Baltimore and overcome any damage Tomlin may due to them.
