Indians drop opener
Cleveland was unable to get much hitting on Monday, suffering a 7-2 loss on the road to the Rangers. The Indians are 37-34 on the season, 17-17 on the road and 41-28 with the under. The Tribe have Zach Plesac on the mound today. He is 1-2 on the year with a 2.92 ERA.
Cleveland saw Mike Clevinger return to the mound on Monday night after months off with an injury. He lasted just 4.2 innings and gave up five earned runs to take the loss. Cleveland finished the game with eight hits and stranded five on the bases. Francisco Lindor hit hits 12th home run of the game in the loss while Oscar Mercado also had a solo home run.
Rangers stay strong at home
Texas continued its impressive run at home after picking up the win over the Indians on Monday night. The Rangers are now 39-33 on the season, 25-12 at home and 36-35 with the over. Texas has Adrian Sampson on the mound today. He is 5-3 on the season with a 4.21 ERA.
Lance Lynn had a very solid start on Monday night. He pitched seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits with nine strikeouts. Lynn is now 8-4 on the season. At the plate, Texas had eight hits, making the most of their scoring chances. Danny Santana had a home run and drove in two runs while Elvis Andrus also had two RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians have won five straight games following a loss and 5-11 in their last 16 games against a right-handed starter.
Texas
The Rangers have won six straight Game 2’s of a series and 15 of their last 20 at home.
Prediction:
Plesac has been able to be strong in most of his four starts, but is coming off his worst outing thus far at home against the Reds. Sampson is also coming off one of his worst outings, giving up six on the road to Boston. However, at home, Sampson has a 2.70 ERA with a 4-1 record over five starts. Cleveland has been a very unreliable team at the plate, which showed itself on Monday. It may not matter how well Plesac pitches, I think Sampson is going to limit what the Cleveland hitters do tonight.
MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers +110
