Rays’ Eovaldi allows three runs in loss to Mariners
Nathan Eovaldi was charged with the loss while allowing three runs over five innings on Sunday against the Mariners. All three runs allowed by Eovaldi came off of homers; two on a shot by Mike Zunino, and one off the bat from Nelson Cruz. If you can take away those hits — and you cannot — Eovaldi was solid, as he didn’t walk anyone and struck out three. In three starts with the Rays in 2018, the right-hander owns a 3.94 ERA with 11 strikeouts and two walks in 16 innings.
Yankees’ Loaisiga to make MLB debut Friday vs. Rays
Jonathan Loaisiga will be called up to start for the Yankees on Friday against the Rays. Loaisiga has posted a strong 3.00 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 58/4 K/BB ratio in 45 innings this season between High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton, but he’s a little green to be trusted in standard mixed fantasy leagues. This will be the 23-year-old right-hander’s MLB debut.
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 0-7 in their last seven road games and are 0-6 in their last five games versus a right-handed starter.
New York
The Yankees have won five in a row against American League East rivals and are 43-13 in their last 56 home games.
Prediction:
In the last 12 meetings between these two teams, the under is 8-3-1. It is also 5-1-1 in the Yankees’ last seven home games, is 5-1 in their last six games versus AL East rivals and has cashed in nine straight New York games. With the Yankees struggling offensively and no one knowing what to expect from Loaisiga, I’m going with the under.
The Pick: Rays/Yankees under 9
