Giants’ Stratton coming off no-decision vs. Diamondbacks
Chris Stratton allowed seven hits and three runs over four innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks. He fanned three and walked two over 84 pitches. Stratton gave up two runs in the third with both coming on a two-out double by Daniel Descalso. Paul Goldschmidt was a thorn in Stratton’s side all day, beating him for three hits including an RBI double in the fifth inning. Wednesday’s no-decision snapped a four-start winning streak for the right-hander. Stratton will look to redeem himself versus the Marlins.
Marlins’ Richards allows three runs in loss to Cardinals
Trevor Richards yielded three runs in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Cardinals. Richards went without a walk today after issuing 14 over 23 2/3 innings in his first five starts. His rotation spot is tenuous, as it’s been for every young Marlins starter this year, but today’s performance should have been decent enough to keep him around for now. He has a chance to provide NL-only value over the rest of the season.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants continue to struggle versus the Marlins. They’re 1-6 in their last seven games versus Miami and 3-8 in their last 11 road games against the Marlins.
Miami
The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams and is 15-5 in the last 20 meetings in Miami.
Prediction:
Despite their struggles against the Marlins, I do expect the Giants to rebound from their loss last night. They’re a perfect 5-0 in Stratton’s last five starts, are 4-1 in his last five road outings and have won eight of their last 11 games overall (including eight straight versus a right-handed starter). On the other side, the Marlins have dropped six of their last eight home games and are just 1-4 in their last five games coming off a win.
The Pick: San Francisco Giants -110
