Reds struggling to score
Cincinnati is coming off a 4-2 loss to the Phillies on Friday. The Reds have lost four of their last five games, being held to 2 runs or less in the four losses. Cincy is 28-34 overall, 13-19 on the road and 37-23 with the under. Tanner Roark gets the start for the Reds today. He is 4-4 on the season with a 3.47 ERA.
The Reds matched the Phillies in hits on Friday, putting up six, but couldn’t break through with the key hits late. Cincinnati left 10 on base in the loss. Joey Votto was the lone Red with two hits in the game and drove in a run on his fifth home run of the season. Jose Iglesias added in the other RBI. Tyler Mahle took his sixth loss of the season on the mound, giving up three runs in five innings.
Phillies win third straight
Philadelphia is riding a three-game win streak right now following Friday’s win over the Reds. The Phillies are 36-27 on the season, 21-11 at home and 33-28 with the under. Philly has Nick Pivetta on the mound today. He is 3-1 on the season with a 6.14 ERA.
Zach Eflin picked up his sixth win of the mound on Friday, pitching 6.1 innings and allowing just one earned run. He walked four while striking out six. Hector Neris earned his 13th save of the season by striking out two in the ninth. Jay Bruce homered and drove in two in the win while J.T. Realmuto was the lone Philly with two hits.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 8-2 in their last 10 games following a loss, but just 21-44 in their last 65 road games.
Philadelphia
Philadelphia is 6-1 in their last seven home games and 9-3 in their last 12 games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Roark has given up multiple runs in six of his last eight starts and he hasn’t gotten past six innings in nine of his last 10 outings. Pivetta is coming off a scoreless outing through six innings against the Dodgers, but he has struggled most of the season. Despite that, I think he can do enough to keep Philly in the game today as he is facing a really poor lineup. The Phillies should be able to get to Roark and put up a number that the Reds can’t get to.
MLB Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies -140
