Phillies’ Pivetta allows three runs in four innings in last start
Nick Pivetta yielded three runs in four innings Friday in a loss to the Giants. Pivetta had a nearly 5:1 K:BB ratio coming into this one (67/14 in 58 IP), but he walked as many as he struck out (three) tonight and also hit a batter for the first time in six weeks. That doesn’t seem particularly encouraging, especially with the Cubs coming up next, but it’s still worth sticking with him in mixed leagues for now.
Cubs’ Chatwood struggles with his command vs. Mets
Tyler Chatwood struggled with his command again on Friday, issuing four walks over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mets. The right-hander allowed two runs on four hits in the ballgame while striking out three. Chatwood now sports a 4.02 ERA and cringe-inducing 1.73 WHIP across 53 2/3 innings on the season. Fantasy owners would be wise to keep him on the pine if possible for Thursday’s matchup against the Phillies.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The under is 4-1-1 in Pivetta’s last six road starts and is 8-3-1 in his last 12 outings overall.
Chicago
The over is 5-1 in Chatwood’s last six starts overall and is 4-1-1 in his last six home outings.
Prediction:
The Phillies are a good play again as an underdog. They’re 12-4 in Pivetta’s last 16 starts, are 7-1 in his last eight starts versus a team with a winning record and have won four of his last five starts when he pitches the third game of a series. On the other side, the Cubs are struggling at home and are winless in their last six games played at Wrigley Field when they take on a right-handed starter.
The Pick: Philadelphia Phillies +115
