Dodgers hit three homers in win
Los Angeles secured an 11-8 victory Friday night to pull within three games of first place in the NL West. Matt Kemp helped get things rolling for the Dodgers with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. Chris Taylor added a 3-run homer in the sixth inning. He finished the night 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Yasiel Puig was 4-for-5 with a home run in the ninth inning that provided insurance. He scored three times and drove in two. Justin Turner was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Dennis Santana picked up the win in relief despite allowing five earned runs on six hits with four strlkeouts and a walk over 3 2/3 innings.
LeMahieu returns with four-hit effort
Colorado second baseman D.J. LeMahieu returned from a stint on the disabled list by going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs in the loss. Charlie Blackmon finished 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Nolan Arenado went 2-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored. Carlos Gonzalez finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. Chris Iannetta was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs. Brooks Pounders gave up four earned runs in relief without recording an out to take the loss.
Starting today for the Dodgers will be Walker Buehler (3-1, 2.20 ERA), while German Marquez (4-5, 4.21 ERA) gets the nod for the Rockies.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 11-4 in their last 15 games overall. Los Angeles is 26-12 in its last 38 Saturday games.
Colorado
The under is 19-7 in the last 26 Rockies Saturday games. The under is 9-2 in the last 11 Marquez home starts.
Prediction:
Buehler has yet to taste the thin air of Coors Field as a member of the Dodgers. I like the Rockies to bounce back behind Marquez, who has been reliable even if his numbers look pedestrian. Typically, pedestrian is good enough in Denver. Colorado wants to keep a firm grasp on first place and despite their struggles for a while, the Dodgers are playing good ball now and a threat to eventually take over atop the division. Go with the Rockies tonight to put another game of separation between them and LA.
