Indians doubled up by Rays

Cleveland fell to 26-26 overall and 15-14 at home Sunday afternoon with a 6-3 loss against Tampa Bay. Oscar Mercado helped pace the Indians offense as he went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Francisco Lindor finished 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI. Leonys Martin ended the contest 2-for-4. Trevor Bauer suffered the loss as he gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Jefry Rodriguez will start today for Cleveland as he enters with a 1-4 record, 4.08 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 35 1/3 innings.

Red Sox solve Verlander

Boston earned a 4-1 victory at Houston Sunday afternoon as it got the best of Justin Verlander in the matchup. The Red Sox trailed 1-0 through two innings but scored one run in each the third through fifth innings to take control. Rafael Devers paced Boston by going 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Eduardo Nunez finished 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Steve Pearce was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Eduardo Rodriguez picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Marcus Walden notched the save, striking out one in a perfect inning of relief. Rick Porcello starts tonight for Boston as he comes in with a 3-4 record, 4.45 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 47 strikeouts over 56 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Cleveland

The Indians are 0-4 in their last four games versus a right-handed starting pitcher. Cleveland is 4-1 in its last five starts versus Porcellol.

Boston

The Red Sos are 6-2 in the last eight Porcello home starts. Boston is 17-8 in its last 25 games overall.

Prediction:

Porcello has given up two earned runs or less in four of his last five starts and is starting to resemble the starting pitcher who has been high quality during a portion of his Red Sox tenure. Cleveland comes in struggling and it should have trouble elevating Porcello's offerings for home runs. Boston should have decent success against Rodriguez and as long as we don't get a Porcello implosion today, the hosts should be in solid shape.
