Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports that Kris Bryant (neck) has been cleared to fly with the Cubs to Houston. There still hasn’t been an update to his status for Monday’s game, or any indication on how much time he may miss (if any), but it’s encouraging that they’re letting him fly there with the team. Bryant injured his neck in a collision with Jason Heyward during Sunday’s game.
Houston Astros Fantasy Spin
Alex Bregman went 1-for-4 with a double in Sunday’s loss to the Red Sox. Bregman picked up double No. 7 on the year in Sunday’s loss. That two-bagger was the only extra-base hit which the Astros managed on the afternoon. For the season, now, the third baseman is slashing .262/.390/.546 with 15 home runs and 35 RBI over the course of 52 games played. He is well on his way to topping the career-best 31 home runs he bopped last season.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams.
Houston
The Astros are 4-1 in Gerrit Cole’s last five starts and 16-5 in his last 21 outings at home.
Prediction:
The Cubs are 8-1 in Cole Hamels’ last nine starts, are 4-0 in his last four road outings and are 4-1 in his last five starts when their opponent scores two runs or less in their previous game. Chicago has also won five of the previous seven meetings between these two teams and with Houston banged-up offensively, I like the Cubs to keep things close this afternoon.
The Pick: Chicago Cubs +1.5 (-125)
